My Story

My name is Ellie Smith, I am a freelance photographer currently based in Lincoln, Nebraska shooting portrait, product, and commercial photography.

I grew up in a small village in central Nebraska. For my tenth birthday my grandfather gifted me with my first camera, a Canon Powershot A60. I instantly fell in love with photography, with the way I could show others how I viewed the world and the beauty within it, and how I could bring my vision to life.  

During high school I challenged myself to take at least one photo every day for three years, in order to expand my expertise and become familiar with as many different techniques and styles as possible. I later studied photography and photo-editing at a small community college where I learned about the artistic elements photography had to offer.

After college I was hired by Buckle, Inc. in Kearney, Nebraska. For the three years I worked for Buckle, I shot portrait, product, and lifestyle photography that was used across their website, social media, and featured in their stores. I learned the technical side of studio lighting and the process of commercial content creation from start to finish.

I am highly inspired by the candid moments in time that my lens can expose. My goal with every photoshoot is to show the beauty within, and reveal my subjects’ true personality to themselves and others.
